Botox or Fillers?

Getting older affects the body in many different ways. You might look in the mirror and notice lines and wrinkles forming on your face. While no one is safe from signs of aging, there is something you can do about it! Botox in Fayetteville and fillers are two popular treatment options to fight lines and wrinkles, but one might be more effective for you than the other.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox is the brand name for a commonly used neuromodulator. The injectable formula can be used to improve lines and wrinkles, usually in the upper face. Botox is also sometimes used to lift the brows non-surgically. The formula works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. With the muscles relaxed, the appearance of lines and wrinkles diminishes. Common concerns that can be improved with Botox side effects are crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles.

What Do Fillers Treat?

Fillers are also injectables, but they work differently than Botox. There are many different types of fillers on the market that can be used to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, mostly in the mid and lower face. the fillers work by adding volume to sunken lines and folds, commonly used on laugh lines around the nose and mouth. This volume can also be added to the lips (lip augmentation), cheeks, or chin for a subtle enhancement. At Taylor Plastic Surgery, we offer several dermal fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane products.

So, Botox or Fillers?

Choosing between Botox and fillers will depend on the type of lines or wrinkles you have. Botox is primarily recommended for lines that appear with facial expressions such as smiling or frowning. However, if your deep wrinkles are present when your face is relaxed, fillers are a better option for you!
