Botox® Cosmetic here at the practice of Dr. Robert Taylor and Dr. Kasia Kania is a very popular, non-surgical injection treatment that has been extensively studied and proven to improve the signs of aging, such as forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Botox is a form of botulinum toxin, which addresses the underlying case of these specific wrinkles.

How BOTOX® Works

Wrinkles can result from various factors, including sun damage, collagen reduction, and repetitive muscle contractions. Botox addresses wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle contractions, or facial expressions we make on a daily basis. During your treatment, Botox is injected into these overused muscles to temporarily stop muscle activity. This resting period smooths existing lines on your face.

The injection treatment is virtually painless, except for a small pinch from the injection itself. The total time of the Botox treatment generally lasts about 10 minutes, often called the “lunchtime procedure” because there is no downtime necessary! Although complications are rare, injection treatments always carry some risk. Be sure to talk to your certified injector to understand the full list of side effects.

When can I expect results from BOTOX®?

It is important to follow aftercare instructions to minimize your chance of complication. Results from Botox are noticeable within 1 to 2 days, and may last up to 4 months. Touch-up appointments may be scheduled to maintain your smoother, younger looking complexion.

Is BOTOX® right for me?

If you are 18 years or older and suffering from unsightly lines due to continuous facial expressions, you should join the millions of patients who have made Botox part of their skin care regimen. If you are experiencing an infection at the injection sites, or are sensitive to allergic reactions to botulinum toxin, you may not be an ideal candidate. It’s important to address these complications before your treatment.
