Sclerotherapy
in Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville, Springdale Arkansas
Sclerotherapy, an advanced treatment available here at the practice of Dr. Robert Taylor and Dr. Kasia Kania, is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.
Why it’s done
Sclerotherapy is often done for:
- Cosmetic purposes — to improve the appearance of varicose and spider veins
The procedure can also improve related symptoms such as:
- Aching
- Swelling
- Burning
- Night cramps
If you’re pregnant or breast-feeding, doctors recommend waiting to have sclerotherapy done.
